Adult Health and Wellbeing

School teaches every pupil how to ride a bike

  • We supported the launch of Andy’s Man Club in Berwick to support males with their mental health.

  • We supported Newcastle United Foundation's 12th Man programme in Berwick, a 12 week course that helps to improve physical and mental wellbeing of males. Watch how much of an impact the programme had here.

Children and Young People’s Health and Wellbeing

  • We worked with Leading Link to provide young people in Northumberland with opportunities to deliver physical activity sessions, developing their skills and confidence.

  • Parkhead Community Primary School were successful in their application to receive funding from the Opening Schools Facility Fund.

    With thanks to the funding, they were able to train staff and purchase equipment enabling them to provide Boogie Bounce sessions.

Empowering People

  • We're proud to support Coach Core, an employment and education charity that delivers an inclusive and impactful sports coaching apprenticeship that upskills young people across Northumberland and Tyne and Wear and provides them with a range of vital skills for sport, work and life.

  • We partnered with Crisis to improve the physical and mental health, self-esteem and resilience of young people aged 16 – 25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness through the power of physical activity.

  • South Tyneside Churches Key Project is helping more than 20 vulnerable young people, aged 16-24, through its Healthy Body, Healthy Mind programme.

    They invested in new exercise equipment and trained its staff to coach workout sessions through a £5k grant from Rise and the Young People Forward Project.

Infrastructure and Environment

  • Working with the Bikeability Trust and Sunderland Young People’s Bike Project, we provided a variety of free cycling lessons to people of all ages in Sunderland.

Tackling Inequalities Fund

  • We supported Tailored Leisure which enabled them to use funding to provide physical activity sessions to their target audience.

Together Fund

  • We awarded the charity £10,000 from the Together Fund to support the running of their sessions between July and November 2022.

    This funded the delivery of 73 sessions, that had a total of 363 attendances from 99 individual participants.

  • Active Families NE is a charity, established in 2017, that is committed to inspiring, enthusing and invigorating communities in the North East to become more active, to improve their physical and mental well-being, to eradicate social isolation and improve community cohesion.

    We awarded Active Families £5,651 from the Together Fund to support the running of their sessions between July 2022 and March 2023.
